OFFICE@TROLLEBERG
// STATUS: completed / PROGRAM: architecture lab and office, renovation / PLACE: Trolleberg Goods (Lund) Sweden / AREA: 50 sqm / CLIENT: iliilil architecture/ PERIOD: 2021-2022
Transformation of a large room in old stable complex, with limited budget to unlimited types of projects: from monotype printing to plaster casting to architecture studio and exhibition space. Different needs of surfaces are manifested through... different surfaces as design element, borrowed from countryside just outside. Hard surfaces (concrete, plywood, plastic) for "play hard" and soft surfaces (fibers, plants, canvas) for "think hard".
The office-part is elevated on plastic pallets and isolated with wooden fiber panels, giving it a soft interior and soft acoustics, like a nest. The atelier-part is industrial-rough and has a concrete floor with huge bench-table that can accommodate number of projects at same time and that can be reconfigured into different modules/shapes for different projects/needs.
Doors and walls can be opened to maximum, letting the inside out, and outside in. Transparent panels are used, as well marine varnish, to filter or mirror light.
Most of the materials and furniture is recycled, leftovers and/or second-hand.
Hard surfaces for "play hard" and soft surfaces to "think hard".
